Raspberry Pi Fixing Sound On Kali Linux

Some of you have been tinkering with Raspberry Pi3 and undoubtedly a few of you experienced the issues on Kali On Pi3 On HDMI. This is also the case with Ubuntu Mate on Raspberri Pi3 – and perhaps related to Armbian on Tinkerboard, but will require investigation and testing to confirm. The issue is a sound module not loading for HDMI. Our investigation found a few fixes, and again these may apply to other OS on similar platforms.

Details: Using vim, or in my case geany, load the blank configuration file and add the one from Raspbian.

apt-get install geany
cd /boot
geany config.txt

Paste and modify according to your needs:

Reboot and the changes will take effect. In some instances the sound fixes will require tweaking, one fix was to add kmix. This fixes the pulseaudio server issue, but may be doable other ways. To configure with kmix I opened a youtube video, turned volume down, and opened kmix to adjust volume. *I also in the above config uncommented the hdmi force line, which was hdmi_drive=2.

apt-get install kmix
